VAS for communication of Error Codes between EVSE and EV

Background: There is no coomon error handling among different charging stations and OEMs It is not possible to analyse the root cause for Charging issues which can occur on both sides EVSE or EV during the charging session.

Activities: CharIN "Focus Group: Charging Communication/ Subgroup: Error Codes" and DIN DKE SPEC 99003 are working on unified error codes of EVSE and EV. Draft/white paper is expected by June 2024. There are no activities yet to define the way how to exchange the error codes between EVSE and EV!

Goal: to be able to exchange error codes between EV and EVSE.

Proposal: to define VAS for error code exchange in the frame work of ISO 15118-2 / 15118-20
